Welcome to GrazynaS.net!

Thank you for visiting this site. It is dedicated to my mom Grazyna (Grace) Sawicka, who unfortunately has been diagnosed with breast cancer. You are most likely here because you are either part of the close or extended family or you are a dear friend to someone who is.

Originally we created this site to keep family and friends informed and up to date by using the blog, and just as importantly to help raise money. As you can all imagine there are a lot of expenses involved with cancer treatments, therefore any donations big or small will be gratefully appreciated by the family. We have setup a separate account for this purpose only, and if at the end of this there is money left over we will donate it to CANCERcare to help other women in need. My hope is that one day this site will serve as a mood lifter for my mom as she gets to read everyone’s comments and well wishes. For now she is not yet ready to and therefore I, her daughter, will manage the site for the time being.

We would also like to ensure that you don’t leave this site without taking a few minutes out of your busy day to either remind someone or to schedule your annual mammogram. More importantly we would like you to spend a few seconds in the shower doing your self exam.

The one lesson this unexpected journey has taught us so far is to truly take life one day at a time. I know it’s such a cliche, but believe me it is the only thing that will keep you going whenever life throws you a curve ball. Here’s a poem I found on one of the breast cancer sites:

“A Brand New Day”
(Author Unknown)
When you awaken in the morning
And see the brightness of the morning sun,
Lock the door on yesterday
And throw away the key.
For God has given you a brand new day,
Another day of love and laughter.
Seize each moment before it flies away,
For sweeter than the fragrant flower is each precious golden hour.
Make today your best day,
The power is yours alone.
Make today the happiest and the best you’ve ever known.
Yesterday is gone, as in a dream,
Tomorrow is a vision still unseen.
Today is yours to live,
Its treasures you can use.
It can be your best day,
It’s up to you to choose!
